Why sales feels hard for so many good leaders
Whether you are a nonprofit or business leader, sales are essential!
If you’ve ever thought…
“I know what I offer helps people… so why does selling it feel so hard?”
You’re not alone.
One of the biggest misconceptions about sales is that difficulty always means you need better tactics.
A new script.
A stronger pitch.
A more aggressive strategy.
Sometimes that’s true.
But often, what’s really happening is this:
You’re trying to sell in a way that doesn’t fit who you are.
And when your sales approach feels disconnected from your values, personality, or natural strengths, it creates resistance.
You hesitate.
You overthink.
You avoid follow-up.
You second-guess your pricing.
You know you need to sell—but the process feels draining.
That’s not because you’re bad at sales.
It may be because you’ve been handed a model that was never designed for you.
What aligned sales actually looks like
Sales does not have to feel performative.
At its best, sales is:
Clarity about the problem you solve
Confidence in the value you create
Consistency in how you communicate it
Connection with the right people
A process that feels natural enough to repeat
When those pieces are in place, sales feels less like “convincing” and more like guiding the right people to the right solution. It feels more relationship oriented and momentum building.
A quick sales reset you can use this week
Ask yourself:
Am I clear on the transformation I provide?
People buy outcomes, not just services.Am I speaking to the right problem?
If your audience doesn’t feel seen, they won’t engage.Am I using a strategy that fits me?
The best sales process is one you can sustain consistently.Am I building relationships, not just transactions?
Trust shortens the distance between interest and action.
Why this matters for growth
Growth without the grind requires aligned action.
When your sales process matches your strengths and values, you reduce friction, build trust faster, and create more consistent opportunities—without feeling like you have to become someone else to succeed.
That is exactly why I’m excited to have Bethany George joining us at Restore to Rise as both our MC and afternoon keynote speaker.
Bethany helps purpose-driven entrepreneurs move beyond typical marketing tactics and into authentic, effective sales strategies that actually feel good to use.
Her session is for leaders who are ready to:
Sell with more confidence
Build trust more naturally
Grow without abandoning their values
Create momentum in a sustainable way
Whether or not you attend…
Take this reminder with you:
You do not need to choose between integrity and growth.
You can build a business that performs well and feels aligned.
And if you’re ready to learn how, we’d love to have you in the room with us on April 29.
