School is Never Out for the Professional

We need to be constantly learning and growing

Growing up and even partially when I was in college I thought that I was destined to be in the education field because I loved learning and wanted to be in a field where I could constantly be learning, growing, and evolving. I had this assumption that your ability to learn and grow was directly tied to what field of work you went into… man was I wrong. Each and every one of us is constantly growing or digressing in every area of our live. Change is the one constant of life, there is no true stagnation. I don’t say that to sound depressing but hopefully to give you some hope to continually be pushing for learning and growth.

Learning doesn’t have to be a whole degree, huge workshop, or something super expensive either. It can be listening to a podcast, reading a book, or practicing a skill. I mean as a speaker of course I want you to pay for that workshop, conference, and/or digital course, but know that is not the only way you can learn.

Has there been a skill, knowledge set, or piece of life (either personally or professionally) that you have been wanting to learn more about? Have you been putting it off? For me I used to say that I couldn’t read books or listen to podcasts because “I didn’t have the time”. Well yeah if I tell myself I don’t have the time I won’t. It is all about perception. Where do you have a few minutes that you can intentionally read a few pages of that book that has been sitting on your shelf for the last few years collecting dust (no judgement been there friends)? For me I like to build this into my routine in the morning when I am doing my devotional time and drinking coffee while my brain is waking up. I read a few pages, reflect, highlight/journal in the book. Then the key for me is to go back and re-read or even type up my notes to really solidify learning. I also am all for spending time, money, and energy on professional development like digital courses and workshops as long as you are going to put in what is needed to get things out of it. What you put into your personal and professional development is what you get out of it.

How do you like to learn? What is one way you can continue to build in consistent/regular learning opportunities into your life (either personally or professionally)?

Learning has been top of mind for me transitioning into this year and getting ready to share my NEW and professionally done speaker sheet (SO SO EXCITED).As a leader and entrepreneur, my business is only as good as what I put into myself. I am a direct reflection. This helps me to prioritize me too because I cannot give from an empty cup. You are allowed to take care of you too!

Here it is, my beautiful new speaker sheet!! Please tell me your thoughts and which speaking topic peaks your interest or you have questions about!
