Removing Stress from the Holidays

Does anyone else feel like this time of year just flies by? I absolutely love the holiday season and honestly wish we could slow down time in the months of November and December to better absorb and celebrate all of the exciting things that happen during these months. If I only had one tip to share with you and you get nothing else from this email, be present wherever you are this holiday season. If you are with family, be with family. If you are working, be at work. If you are volunteering, be present. It is so easy to be distracted, thinking about the million of things that are going on or that you are expecting of yourself. Be present, the time flies quickly. I won’t leave you with a ton of information today as I know all of you are probably trying to maximize your time with only about two weeks until Christmas/Hanukkah.

As we get into some of the most busy times of the year, set realistic expectations for yourself and others. You do not have to be all things to all people in all areas of your life. Be cautious of where you spend your time and energy. Those are limited resources and you do not have to sign up for every single holiday party, volunteering opportunity, and leading every single thing! Like you do with goal setting, set a few intentional priorities of what are your “must haves” and “must dos”. It is okay to say no to things and people if they are not on your top priorities. What are you going to regret if you say no to? What is going to bring you the most peace and joy if you say yes to?

We also can’t forget about our health! Keep up with your important health goals and habits during this time too. It is really easy to “let ourselves go” and it is okay to treat ourselves here and there. However, will you regret how you will feel post holidays if you drink, eat sweets, or eat fatty foods every single day between now and New Years? Still get in that movement and exercise too!
