How Did We Get Here?

A reintroduction to me/my business

Happy 2025 my friends! I hope and pray that your holiday season and the end of 2024 was everything you wanted/needed and more! I wanted to let you know that for most of Q1 of this year we are going to do things a little bit different. It is going to be a mix of education and promotion of Alo Civitas Consulting. I like transparency and sharing what/why I do things and thought this was a great way to share more and hopefully learn from you all too what you have going well for you and maybe areas of need that I can either be of service with or look within my network.

We are in the process of really ramping up our social media presence so PLEASE if you have not already go give us a follow on instagram @alocivitas. We will be doing social media giveaways later this month in honor of the new year and my birthday so please like us, share us, and help us get the word out!

Onto the content for today 🙂

So how did I/we get here? I love reflecting on the past and how it gets us actively to the present. We make our own choices that bring us to where we are.

Alo Civitas Consulting was birthed out of my personal and professional experience. I have always felt the need and the desire to help people, to see people how they want to be seen, and use my gifts and talents in a meaningful way. I also felt it was important to use my lived experience within the business community and nonprofit worlds. All of these pieces needed to be a part of what I did as I built my dream business and figured out how I could continue to serve the world. I also wanted to make sure that I had the opportunity each day to live out my values “transparency, trust, growth, faith, and authenticity”. I had many wonderful experiences and job opportunities that brought me a strong network and relationships, lots of opportunities to build skills that have and will continue to serve me, and also see the pros/cons of both the worlds (business and nonprofit). Every experience, relationship, and opportunity presents with itself learning and growth. I truly am grateful each day for the work that I get to do with my clients to help “build capacity for change” (part of our mission) and increase the impact that they get to bring to the world. Some more pieces about me are that I have two degrees from The University of North Texas (Go Mean Green) one in Human Development and one in Higher Education, I have worked on and managed grants of all sizes as small as $500 up to $1.2 million, I have been an entrepreneur for almost 10 years but full time for almost 2, I love ways to give back to the community (through service, boards, my church), I grew up in North Texas and have many strong connections there today still, I am married to my college sweetheart Kevin who is an emergency medicine resident physician, I have two fur babies, love to cook, love to workout, and someday hope to be able to travel more.

Some questions to ponder today (feel free to respond to me with your answers if you would like to share):

  • How are you living out your values?

  • What are the key experiences or people that brought you to this moment?

  • Are you clear on your mission, vision, and purpose?

  • What are some key points that are important in your journey?

Be on the lookout for the updated posts about who we are and what we do coming soon!
