Fall is here (almost) and brings with it a season of newness and reflection. How are you capitalizing?

The air feels a little crisper, the mornings a little darker, pumpkin spice everything is back on the shelves, and football is back. Fall is officially here. For many of us, fall signals new rhythms—back-to-school routines, fiscal year planning, end-of-year fundraising pushes, pushing hard for the last quarter of the year to be our best, and the slow but steady march toward the holidays. It’s a natural time to pause and ask: am I ready for what’s ahead?

At Alo Civitas Consulting, we see fall not just as a change in season, but as an opportunity to reset. Just like the trees shed their leaves to prepare for new growth, this season invites us to let go of what no longer serves us and to focus on building strong, sustainable foundations for what’s to come.

When It Finally Clicks

Last week, I was presenting on burnout prevention, and someone came up to me after the presentation and said: “Faith, I have heard this many times, but this time it finally stuck.” That moment reminded me of something powerful—we often need to hear the same truth multiple times, in different ways, before it really sinks in.

Think about it: how many times have you been told to slow down, to delegate more, or to take care of yourself before you finally recognized that ignoring the advice was costing you your health, your clarity, or even your effectiveness as a leader? Sometimes we’re not ready to hear a message until the season of our life demands it.

That’s the beauty of repetition. Each time we encounter an idea, we see it through a new lens, shaped by what we’re experiencing. Eventually, it clicks.

Fall as a Season of Alignment

Fall is a season of alignment—of bringing the big picture into focus. For leaders of nonprofits and small businesses, that means asking:

  • What needs to be shed to make space for what’s next?

  • Which systems or habits are draining energy rather than fueling growth?

  • Where can we intentionally invest time and resources now to avoid burnout later?

This is the perfect moment to revisit strategies you’ve heard before but may not have acted on yet. Maybe you’ve been told about the importance of diversifying revenue streams. Maybe you’ve heard the call to document systems so your team can thrive without you in every detail. Or maybe you’ve been reminded—again and again—that your own well-being is not optional, but foundational.

If it hasn’t clicked yet, let this be the season it does.

Building Capacity for Change

At Alo Civitas Consulting, our tagline is “Build Capacity for Change.” That means equipping leaders and organizations not just to survive the busy seasons, but to thrive in them. Whether it’s preventing burnout, strengthening your funding strategies, or building the operational systems that free you to lead with clarity, we help you prepare for the future with intention.

Fall is here. The year’s final quarter is almost underway. And just like hearing an important truth again, maybe this is the moment it finally sticks: you don’t have to do it all alone, and you don’t have to run on empty to create impact.

This season, let’s prepare together—not just for the challenges ahead, but for the opportunities waiting on the other side of readiness. This is also one of the main reasons for the work that has gone into creating the “Tapping Into Your Higher Purpose” Conference in Columbus OH at the end of October. It’s a safe space to hear what you need to hear, create that strategic alignment for moving forward, and building intentional connections for elevation.
