Creative Rest

Allow Your Brain the Chance to Expand and Create

Creative Rest, Expanding the Possibilities and Sharing Creativity

This is our last official week of going through the different areas of well-being (there may be some surprise information shared about a different model soon 🙂 ). Many people may think of creativity only as drawing or painting but there are many different ways we can be creative- cooking, singing, journaling, writing, color coordinating, putting together a stellar outfit or makeup look, coming up with solutions, and of course the typical creative outlets. Creativity allows us to use the right side of our brain, expand our horizons, and release stress relieving hormones. How can you find small daily ways that you can be creative in your life to relax, recharge, and use that different side of your brain? It is important to have at least one way to be creative each and every day. Sometimes within our lives we can become very structured and rigid (which is not always a bad thing) but creativity allows us to loosen up a little and unwind. Constant stress has negative mental and physical consequences for our health. Is there something you have been wanting to try that you haven’t been? I challenge you to do that now! How can you support creativity in those around you whether coworkers, employees, children, or a significant other? Do you see certain skills or areas that light them up that may be good to support them in doing more of?

I have never thought of myself as a truly creative person. However, as I started diving into what this area of wellness meant more, I realized I did have my areas of being creative. I love to cook. I love to create new fun ways to make dishes, share my love of food with other people, and find additional ways to make certain dishes healthier. Meal prepping has allowed me to use my love for cooking, health, and also be structured and prepared for the week. I also love journaling, it allows me to reflect and express what I am thinking in a creative way. As you support others around you, what creative traits do you identify and then can you support or give opportunities to grow?
