Crafting Your Impact, Using Curriculum and Trainings to Share Your Story

One of services that I sometimes forget to market for Alo Civitas Consulting is our curriculum and training creation. Writing out your story, impact, and change that you help people make through more formal processes like trainings or curriculum is important for any organization both nonprofits or businesses. They bring value to your audience to help them learn life changing information that they can apply either personally or professionally to bring about a change, impact, or outcome that will make them better off. Of course anyone can put something together, but it is helpful to have someone from the outside sometimes help put it together to help streamline processes, make sure what is in your head makes sense to the outside world, and let’s be honest writing and speaking is not everyone’s best skill (and that’s okay we are all unique!).

I never realized this was an asset until I started having to create my own trainings and professional development opportunities for this company. Every other job I have ever had there were informal pieces of training such as doing tutoring sessions, skill development, professional development for staff or parents, informally educating, or even presenting at conferences. I honestly LOVE writing, putting together information in a clear and communicable way, and helping piece together a vision.

If you know you have a story to tell and want to start expanding how you share that story or change with the world, here are a few questions to ponder:

  • What change do you hope you can educate or inspire the reader/listener to have?

  • Why is that important? (Like why are they going to invest their time and/or money in it)

  • What impact will that have on their life?

  • What is the best avenue/platform for this information to be shared?

  • Do you need someone to help you put it together and/or make it more formal?

  • Is this a one time training or something you want shared ongoing through a series (podcast, training series, book, etc)?

  • Does writing come natural to you? Or is it important to work with someone who can help get your creative juices flowing?

I have worked on a variety of curriculum development projects spanning workforce development, burnout prevention/mental health, business strategy, social emotional development, academic enrichment, and outdoor nature play to name a few. If you want to see if we can be of support and or help strategize with you, schedule a coffee chat here!
