Change is Uncomfortable and Worth While
Do you all ever have a topic that keeps coming up over and over (and sometimes over again) in your life? Well for me recently that topic has been change… embracing change… accepting change… helping clients through change… and even speaking on change both at an upcoming workshop that will be shared below and here on a new podcast with Karena Calhoun.
We are creatures of habit and it is so much easier to stay in the same ole same ole of what we are doing now because change is uncomfortable. It often requires some kind of pain (whether emotional or physical) and takes intentional effort. It takes 21 days to build a habit but it takes 90 days to break an old habit. It is much easier to learn a new skill then to change/break a bad habit. How many people are still actively working toward their new year resolution? I am not perfectly of course but a healthier active lifestyle is something I am always striving for.
Are you someone who craves change and growth? Or are you someone who stays in your comfort zone? You know nothing changes if nothing changes. If you change absolutely nothing tomorrow and the next day and the next, your life will be no different a month from now then it is now (if not worse). However, if you start taking intentional small daily action steps toward the personal or professional goal that you set, you can get there one step at a time. By being the change and making the change you want to see, you are giving those around you permission to do the same whether it is your spouse, your friends, your children, your staff, or your community. Be the change first that you want to see before expecting it from others. Don’t be afraid to ask for help along the way!
How can you make the changes you want to see?
What small daily habits can you tweak or stack to get the most out of your day?
