Attitude of Gratitude, It's More than Just a Saying

This month I have committed to everyday sharing at least one gratitude across my social media platforms. They can be personal or professional. I am very grateful to all of you that have supported me and my journey thus far!

It got me thinking today…Have you ever thought or wondered why it is so important to have an attitude of gratitude? Yes you want be grateful for all that you have but like why?

There are a variety of reasons why having a grateful heart and mind are important.

1) What you think about you bring about- the more you think about the good things happening in life personally and professionally, the more likely it is that you will continue to attract and focus on those things

2) Your mental state is improved through focusing on positives! It lowers stress levels, boosts your mood, and honestly makes you overall more enjoyable to be around. It also builds your ability to cope with life’s challenges.

3) Some research even shows that people who experience gratitude overall experience better sleep and a stronger physical response/immune system. Holding onto stress and negative energy/emotions can flood our body with cortisol increasing inflammation, stress on our body, and increase our chances of getting sick or hurt. Being happy literally has physical benefits!

4) Our relationships are stronger because people feel appreciated and are more likely to share their appreciation back. How do you feel when someone says thank you or they’re grateful for you? It feels good right?! Now imagine what would happen to your relationships if each day you found at least one person to share your gratitude with.

These are just a few of the main positive blessings that come from being grateful. I do my best each morning to start a list of 7 gratitudes that I have for that day and/or from the day before. I know some people do their gratitudes at night too. I always spend time in my prayer time sharing a few gratitudes of the day. How do you incorporate gratitude into your life daily? What benefit have you seen? I know when I focus on what I am grateful for it makes life better and more enjoyable. I seem to attract the right things as well.
