Are You Attracting Or Detracting?

Is the Law of Attraction Working For You Or Against You?

“What you think you become. What you feel you attract. What you imagine you create.” – Buddha

This timeless quote captures the essence of an idea that holds a lot of weight in modern personal development circles: the Law of Attraction. At its core, the Law of Attraction suggests that like attracts like—that the energy we emit through our thoughts and emotions draws similar energy back to us. Positive thinking leads to positive outcomes; negative thinking leads to more struggle. But how often do we truly pause and reflect on the energy we are radiating each day?

Let’s break this down.

Your thoughts are not just fleeting, harmless notions that vanish into thin air. They are powerful signals. Repeated over time, they become beliefs—internal truths that shape how we see ourselves and the world. And those beliefs? They are the launchpad for action. Every decision we make, every risk we take (or avoid), every opportunity we pursue (or let pass us by), is filtered through the lens of our beliefs. Action, rooted in thought, is what ultimately builds the structure of our lives—our careers, relationships, health, and happiness.

So it’s not just about “thinking positive” in a surface-level way. It’s about training your mind to focus on thoughts that are empowering, constructive, and aligned with what you want to experience more of.

Let me invite you to pause for a moment. Think about your thoughts. What are the recurring stories playing out in your head on a daily basis? Are they filled with possibility and optimism—or doubt, fear, and limitation? Are you replaying conversations, failures, or future worries on a loop? Or are you actively cultivating gratitude, courage, and curiosity?

It’s easy to underestimate how much these mental patterns shape our daily lives. But consider this: if you consistently think, “I’m not good enough,” how will that belief show up in your relationships, work, or self-care? Now flip it. If you regularly think, “I am capable of growth, and every challenge is an opportunity,” how does that shift your behavior?

The quality of our life is deeply tied to the quality of our thoughts. This applies not just to the thoughts we keep inside, but also the ones we give voice to. The language we use—what we say about ourselves, others, and our circumstances—reinforces our mindset. When we speak defeat, we attract more defeat. When we speak potential, we open doors to it.

The Law of Attraction is not about denying reality or pretending everything is perfect. It’s about choosing to focus on what you want to see more of, rather than what you fear or dislike. It’s an intentional practice of aligning your thoughts and emotions with your goals and values. In doing so, you become more resilient, more open to possibility, and more likely to recognize and act on opportunities that match your vision.

Here’s a simple way to start: every morning, ask yourself, “What kind of energy do I want to bring into the day?” Then, set one thought-based intention. It could be as simple as, “Today, I choose patience,” or “I am attracting new opportunities with ease.” Keep it front of mind throughout the day, and notice how your mood, interactions, and mindset begin to shift.

Remember, transformation doesn’t happen overnight, but it begins with awareness. By becoming more intentional about your thoughts, you reclaim your power as the creator of your reality.

You are always attracting. The question is: what are you attracting right now?
